What does Marie Curie do?

Marie Curie is a UK charity that provides support to people (both patients and their families) who are affected by a terminal illness. There are more than 2,700 Marie Curie doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals in operation around the country, as well as some 9,400 volunteers.

The organisation also has nine hospices – making it the second-largest provider of hospice beds in the UK, after the NHS. The charity’s volunteers help with everything from working in the shops (about 3,200 volunteers do this) to running the hospices (gardening, driving patients to daycare centers, staffing reception and providing bereavement support).

The charity’s IT system has approximately 4,450 end users

With such a large network of nurses, doctors, healthcare professionals and volunteers, Marie Curie’s IT needs to be up to scratch, and as reliable and easy to use as possible. The charity’s IT system has approximately 4,450 end users, including office-based administrative staff, fundraisers, clinicians and nurses, as well as about 550 end users in Marie Curie shops.
